צו אַ יונגער דיכטערין
,וואָס איז דערפון, אַז דיין בליק דרינגט טיף אַריין אין זאַכן
,דיין האַרץ, דיין האַרץ שלאָפט
און, אַז ער איז געקומען
און דו האָסט מיט קלאָרע בליקן
,אַ קוק געטאָן אויף אים, ווי אויף אַ זון
?וואָס איז דערפון
דאַרפסט דריי מאָל, ווי איך, ברענען אין גהינום
.אויף אַ פייער פון ליבע
.לאַנג, לאַנגזאַם ברענען
,דאַרפסט דריי מאָל, ווי איך
אין גהינום געלייטערט ווערן
,דאַרפסט ליבן אָן שׂכל, אָן שטאָלץ
!ליבן ביזן טויט
דאַן, ווען דו וועסט דעם טויט
,אין ליבע דערקענען
!שרייב ליבע לידער

Vos iz derfun, az dayn blik dringt tif arayn in Zakhn,
Dayn Harts, dayn Harts shloft,
Un az er iz gekumen
Un du host mit klore Blikn
A Kuk geton oyf im, vi oyf a Zun,
Vos iz derfun?
Darfst dray mol, vi ikh, brenen in Gehenem
Oyf a Fayer fun Libe,
Lang, langsam brenen.
Darfst dray mol, vi ikh,
In Gehenem gelaytert vern
Darfst libn on Seykhl, on Shtolts,
Libn bizn Toyt!
Dan, ven du vest dem Toyt
In Libe derkenen,
Shrayb Libe Lider!
To a Young Poetess
What does it matter, that your gaze penetrates deep into things,
your heart, your heart sleeps,
and, when he came
and with clear gaze,
You looked at him, as at a sun,
what does it matter?
You must, like me, burn three times in hell
on a fire of love.
Long, slowly burn.
you must, three times, like me,
be purified in hell
you must love without reason, without pride,
love until death!
