Work 380 of 440
Page 445. Continuation of 'Abelars ovnt-tfile': 'Tseln' (Cell) — in 'elnt' (solitude) understands his day. Has 'lid un libshaft' (song and love), 'geduld' (patience). Wears 'kleyd fun gzir' (robe of decree — Hebrew 'gezera'). Asks if she knows that far away 'vart mayn Heloiz' (my Heloise waits). She waits 'in goles' (in exile — Hebrew 'galut'), 'aleyn zikh fartribn' (alone driven out), 'far a korbn aleyn oysgekhlibn' (chosen herself as sacrifice — Hebrew 'korban'). There in exile, in 'blinde freydn' (blind joys), grows 'undzer kind — der troym fun undz beydn' (our child — the dream of us both). Their son Astrolabe as symbol of their love despite separation.

Cell, —
in solitude
my day
I understand.
Song
and love.
patience
I possess;
robe
of decree
patiently
I wear.
Say,
do you know,
that far
from here —
waits
my Heloise,
for me to come
to harness.
Waits, —
in exile
alone herself
driven out;
herself
as a sacrifice
alone
chosen.
There
in exile,
in blind
joys —
grows
our child —
the dream
of us both.
